During her residency at Ochre Print Studio, Melanie continued to produce emotionally 
responsive work experimenting with the exposure of different papers to explore subtle
mark-making, contrasts between cut and torn edges, the conceal and reveal of elements 
and use of space. This experimentation derived from her initial interest in the layered 
papered walls of domestic interiors through the 19th and 20th centuries signifying the 
passing of time and the identities of past inhabitants, which she began during her MA
at UCA Farnham (2006-2008). 

Melanie has regularly exhibited her work throughout her time at Ochre, taking part in the
annualSurrey Artists Open Studio event as well as representing the studio at Impress '09 
in Stroud and Impact 6 at the University of the West of England, Bristol in 2009.  She was 
also selected to exhibit at Originals '09 and '10 at the Mall Galleries, London and at the 
latter exhibition won the London Printmakers Printmaking Award. Melanie is currently the 
studio co-ordinator at Ochre Print Studio.
