ROS MORLEY
Personal Profile
Ros studied at Institute of the Arts, Camberwell, for a degree in Fine Art (Painting). She successfully completed an MA in Printmaking at the London Print Studio, under the University of Brighton (July 2009). Her work is inspired by travels to places like Montenegro and other exquisite jewels of landscapes. Ros works from sketches
and her own photos as a starting point, to create semi-abstract scenes which
capture an essence of the place. She works mainly in etching with aquatint and
a version of chine colle' to give an ethereal, atmospheric, layered appearance to
each print. She has used her recent travels to the Lake District in February, plus
Saratoga and Vermont, (USA) to create new work.
Previously her inspiration has been taken from varied cultures, and landscapes
including Rajasthan, Johannesburg and Istanbul. For her MA, she concentrated
on the theme - 'Sacred buildings & landscapes', using mainly etching. This body
of work was designed as part of a commission for the human rights organisation
'Rights & Humanity' to produce prints for a new Centre for Peace & Reconciliation
in Jordan.
Since August '09, Ros has been a committee member of the Printmakers' Council.
She teaches Painting/Drawing in North London.
